Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War co-developer Treyarch has confirmed that on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game will support 120fps. Separately, ray tracing will also be supported on the same next-gen versions. Despite the magnitude of this news, Treyarch didn’t offer any further details. 120fps will likely be limited to multiplayer modes, but it’s also possible it could be supported across all of the game’s modes. Traditionally, both multiplayer and single-player targeted 60fps, but multiplayer kept to its target more consistently. On PS5 specifically, Black Ops Cold War will make use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback, and the console’s HRTF 3D audio.
Unsurprisingly, framerates in excess of 120fps will also be available on PC, as well as ray tracing as previously revealed. In case you missed it, Treyarch blew the doors wide open on Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer last night, showing off the new modes, maps and detailing the new create-a-class and scorestreak systems. The developer also confirmed the beta dates. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out November 13 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. You can spend $10 to upgrade your current-gen copy to next-gen, or buy the Cross-Gen Bundle for $70.
