Visit the official Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit any day and you’re going to find at least a handful of clips showing blatant hacking and cheating. Though the problem is likely smaller than it appears, the constant barrage of posts makes it look like cheating is rampant, and certainly does nothing good to Warzone’s reputation. Rather than post clips of their own, Reddit user TNGSystems instead tried to attack the problem from a different angle: by going after the cheat makers’ source of income....

The first, the Survival genre (not to be confused with Survival Horror), could be seen as almost intentional, or perhaps just in step with the times, via the creation of DayZ from the bones of Arma. The second, however - the unexpected and haphazard birth of battle royale - was an essentially unforeseen consequence: it was the result of a game of a mod of Dean’s mod of a game; a series of developmental dominoes which gave us PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and therefore Fortnite, and therefore Apex Legends, and therefore, Call of Duty’s own battle royale modes....

PlayStation confirmed the addition to its monthly games lineup on Twitter today; however, the game is actually going to be available to download a few days early starting May 26. Sony will be announcing the rest of June’s games later this week, it says. In the meantime, May’s gaming lineup - Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19 - are still available for free until June 1. The reveal of Call of Duty: WW2 follows rumours of another potential addition to next month’s PS Plus lineup: Spider-Man....

Capcom has revealed plans for a virtual event, as part of this year’s E3. Capcom’s showcase takes place on Monday, June 14 at 2:30pm, 4:30pm ET, 10:30pm UK. Of course, the Japanese publisher revealed what we can expect at the show. Content from Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Resident Evil Village, and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles has been confirmed. Strangely, Capcom did not hint that more than those confirmed showings will be part of the event....

The press release is based on the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021, meaning that it pertains to the three months between the end of the last fiscal year (March 31, 2020) and the end of the first quarter for this year (June 30, 2020). “Net sales and all profit items hit record levels for a first quarter, driven by major new title release and digital sales growth,” reads the press release....

One of the game’s most iconic moments, without a doubt, is the Geralt bath scene – you know the one. The new season brings with it a variety of new maps and modes, the highlight of which is Outbreak. Outbreak is a zombies mode, continuing the Dark Aether storyline from previous games. Jen Taylor, who plays Master Chief’s AI assistant in the Halo games, Cortana, will reprise her role in the upcoming Halo TV show. The series from Steven Spielberg has been coming for a long, long time. Spielberg revealed his studio Amblin Entertainment were adapting the game for the small screen in 2013 at the Xbox One reveal event. We are now at the launch of a brand new console generation, and still no show....

With it, you can expect the return of Nick Fury to lead SHIELD and coordinate future Avengers Initiative missions alongside Director Hill. The update will also come with a “much-needed rework” of the War Table and the mission-select system. The team is changing how to find, select, and launch missions on the leveling journey throughout the Avengers Initiative. The primary goal is to improve the flow for new players to “reduce frustration” in the leveling process....

Action title El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is going to be launching on PC at some point in the near future. In a rather vague press release, producer Sawaki Takeyasu – who led development on the original game – said that the title will be coming to Steam “very soon.” There’s no more information than that right now, but this does following Takeyasu teasing that El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron would be making its PC debut at the end of last year....

When Cyberpunk 2077 was pushed back to December, developer CD Projekt Red suggested that the team needed more time to bring the PS4 and Xbox One versions in line with other platforms. Having recently shown gameplay running on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, the developer is now seemingly happy with how it runs. During the most recent conference call for CD Projekt, where the developer-publisher promised (again) not to delay the game any further, company executives were asked directly about Cyberpunk 2077’s current state on the base consoles....

We probably all know by now that Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t exactly launch in an amazing state. Whether it was the glitches, or the much delayed current-gen version of the game, things didn’t really pan out until this year when the game actually saw a number of big fixes, and the current-gen version was actually released. Despite all of its problems though, at the time of writing Cyberpunk is sitting at a healthy 105,445 concurrent players (via SteamDB)....

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is a game of even more juxtapositions. Not quite content to let its 2019 offerings lie, Kojima Productions is back for another round with Norman Reedus’ Sam Porter Bridges nearly two years later. The result is more polarizing additions: for every heartfelt moment of discovery among the new story content, there’s a racing minigame that borders on the obnoxious. For every critical mechanic that feeds into Death Stranding’s overarching philosophy, there’s a literal cannon that shoots out cargo for you to sprint ahead and reclaim....

Published by Bethesda, Deathloop looks to take the now-classic Arkane formula from immersive sims like Dishonored and Prey and give it a new bombastic edge with over-the-top guns and seismic telekinetic powers. Deathloop was announced via a trailer at E3 last year, and received a new trailer at the PS5 showcase event, which detailed a little of the game’s time-bending premise - where assassins battle for sport on the constantly resetting island of Blackreef....

For a few minutes following the reveal of the latest Demon’s Souls trailer, as part of the PS5 Showcase, Souls fans everywhere were ecstatic to learn that not only is the remake a launch title, but that it’s also seemingly coming to PC. Unfortunately, only one of those is true. The original trailer that went up on the official PlayStation YouTube channel included a message at the very end that read, “Not available on other consoles for a limited time....

Bungie hosted a small Destiny 2 in-game event today which saw the Almighty destroyed. According to various social media posts online, the event was a slow one that lasted around 90 minutes or so. Things kicked off with Rasputin firing lasers at the Cabal superweapon, and it eventually crashed with a shock wave. Folks stationed at the Tower were able to see everything as it unfolded. Those who zone back into the game, and check out some of the debris from the ship will be rewarded with an Emblem (thanks, The Verge)....

Destruction AllStars, the latest PS5 exclusive, arrived on PS Plus at the start of February and it’s undoubtedly a fun time. Smashing a car into other cars has been a jolly good throughout numerous console generations, so the fact it’s still capable of getting those endorphins into your brain is no surprise. Somewhat surprising is how well the mixture of car combat and on-foot gameplay work alongside each other, which gives AllStars a neat twist on the arena-based car combat genre....
