Nioh 2 is the sequel to Team Ninja’s feudal Japan-set action RPG. The sequel’s story actually takes place prior to the events of the main game, set against the backdrop of Oda Nobunaga’s quest. One of the biggest new features in Nioh 2 is the character creator, which offers dense options with a tonne of granular detail for each. In Nioh 2, you don’t play as any particular figure, which frees up the developer to implement some cool new additions....

For a while Valve experimented with giving players access to perhaps the most iconic Half-Life weapon in Alyx, but it created a bunch of problems. For being a Mario game, there’s been remarkably little time between the surprise reveal of Paper Mario: The Origami King, and its release this Friday on Switch. Paper Mario: The Origami King is, much like its predecessors, a comedic adventure set in a world made out of paper and cardboard. Olly is the eponymous king, who is on a quest to fold the Origami Kingdom. The Origami King’s combat mixes puzzles with turn-based tactics, but doesn’t bring back too many of the RPG mechanics fans of the older Paper Mario games are familiar with....

The last time we heard about Payday 3, developer Starbreeze suggested that we wouldn’t be seeing the game until at least 2022. Now, the company has issued a small update on the game: it’s alive, and still it the design phase. In a tweet from the official Payday 2 Twitter account, the developer confirmed that the next title in the series is alive, and that the game will drop the controversial and aging Diesel Engine in favor of Epic’s Unreal Engine....

Google has announced its made its Stadia Pro subscription service free for the next two months. If you aren’t already a standard Stadia user, all you have to do to play the Pro version for free is create an account. If you don’t wish to be charged, be sure to cancel the sub before the two month period is up. Also, if you are already a Pro sub, Google is waiving your monthly free for the next two months....

Playdate, the handheld console with a crank, will be available to pre-order on Thursday, July 29. Pre-orders open up directly on the Playdate website at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UK. You’ll be able to pre-order the console on its own, for $179, a cover for $29, or a bundle of the two for $199. Panic, the company behind this unique handheld, promised that pre-orders will not sell out. Every order will be placed in a queue, and everyone is required to pay the full amount when pre-ordering (though you can cancel at any time), which should help deter scalpers....

A Plague Tale: Innocence is for PS5 only while the other two games are available on PS4. You already know about Black Ops 4 and what it entails, but you may not know much about the other two titles. First announced back in July, PlayStation Stars has now launched in Asia this week, with the confirmation that the loyalty program will come to North America and Europe in October. However, as reported by VGC, top members of the program are supposedly being given priority when it comes to customer support, which a number of players aren’t happy with. PlayStation Stars apparently has a four tier system that players can progress through by purchasing games and earning trophies....
