It was never really a challenge to imagine what game Aliens: Fireteam is since the moment of its reveal. The trailer showed third-person co-op action where a squad of players fend off waves of Xenomorphs. This is exactly what this extended gameplay demo from IGN shows, and so much more. For one, the 25-minute gameplay demo illustrates the pace of the game, and the few ideas it borrows from other genre hits....

Andor is about fighting facism, really. Star Wars has always had this weird problem of being a fun and fanciful space opera for kids while also having one of its key factions plainly inspired by the Nazis – so the villains simultaneously have to be space opera silly, the types who can get battered by teddy bears, but also frightening and willing to set a torture robot on innocents. That means that Andor sometimes doesn’t exactly fit with all of the rest of Star Wars....

For Arkane Studios, creator of Dishonored and Prey, there’s a simple rule: consistency. Wooden doors should be breakable. All doors should be openable unless locked. Doors with nothing on the other side shouldn’t exist, and so players are free to peek through keyholes, through the smokescreen, to plan how to confront what lies beyond. Dishonored 2 is one of my favourite games, but sales were relatively disappointing. Troubling optics for one of the last surviving triple-A studios still making this kind of game - the “immersive sim”....

DICE has announced it will cease updating Battlefield 5 with new content past summer. According to the developer, it will release one last content pack for the game which is slated for June. The studio states it will include new content, weapons, and game tweaks. Because the studio is facing challenges working from home due to COVID-19, the content may be pushed past June, but the devs will keep the community updated on its progress....
The original Bayonetta was on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and the follow-up released on the Wii-U with its sequel Bayonetta 2. An enhanced port for Microsoft Windows was released with 4K support, and a re-release on Nintendo Switch. To mark the 10th anniversary of the cult classic, a remastered version of Bayonetta was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Bayonetta series has become a huge hit and the third entry is one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year....
Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu (via Siliconera), series creator Hideki Kamiya confirmed the third entry in the Bayonetta series is still in development and “progressing smoothly.” “Actually, there’s a lot of info hidden in the teaser announcement in 2017,” he adds. Bayonetta 3 was first announced for Nintendo Switch with a trailer during the 2017 Game Awards. Running at just under a minute long, the teaser video shows Bayonetta being shot by bolts of electricity before repaying the compliment with six bullets....

Four Bioshock offerings have been rated by the Taiwanese game rating board, each filed by Take-Two Asia Pte Ltd. The titles are Bioshock Remastered, Bioshock 2 Remastered, Bioshock: The Collection, and Bioshock Infinite: The Complete Collection. Bioshock: The Collection was originally released in 2016 for PSC, PS4, and Xbox One. It contains all three titles, the first two remastered, along with each game’s respective DLC. 2K Games has yet to announced The Collection or the individual titles for Switch as of press time....

We saw BlizzCon 2020 canceled and replaced with an online-only event due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and the same fate has befallen Blizzard’s planned BlizzCon 2021 event, too. Up until now, the company has been fairly quiet about its plans for this year’s event, but now citing “ongoing complexities and uncertainties of the pandemic,” we know it’s not going to happen. In a new post on the BlizzCon website, show executive producer Saralyn Smith outlined what the company is planning instead of an event later this year....
During PAX Online today, Gearbox Software and 2K confirmed full next-gen support for Borderlands 3. Confirmation that Borderlands 3 is coming to both Xbox Series X and PS5 shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering the studio developed the game using Unreal Engine because it’s compatible with next-gen. If you already own the current-gen version of the game on Xbox One and you’re playing on Xbox Series X, you’ll receive a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version....
This is according to Gearbox president and CEO Randy Pitchford, who stated that 2K Games had the Borderlands 3 team remove cross-play support for PlayStation. Apparently, it has something to do with certification purposes, according to Pitchford. So, this means that cross-play will only be available on the other platforms where Borderlands 3 is available.
