Earlier this week, a non-rumour got started because someone noticed that the LinkedIn page of Chad Mirshak, a Halo Infinite UI designer no longer lists the game for Xbox One, just PC and Xbox Series X/S. LinkedIn posts aren’t usually a good source for this because they can be outdated, but the amusing thing here was that Mirshak’s About page actually says the game is being developed for Xbox One alongside the other platforms....

A recent thread over at ResetEra has collectsed a variety of the Horizon Zero Dawn PC gameplay videos from different games sites. The pretty much unanimous consensus is that it looks absolutely phenomenal, and that its visual fidelity is remarkably improved from the original game on PS4. The main reason given was logistics - as Final Fantasy 7 Remake recently proved, it’s near impossible to make sure everyone gets the game at around the same time. People have been playing that for well over a week, while digital buyers are waiting for tomorrow’s official launch. Now many of the retailers are closed down due to government-enforced restrictions, it’s unlikely physical editions would make it to customers at all....

Players can expect a reworked Elusive Target Arcade, new Arcade contracts, the return of an Elusive Target, and enhanced support for Contracts Mode. Kicking off today is a new batch of three Arcade Contracts, one for each game in the Trilogy: Nebulae, Genera and Vitae. Complete any one of them and you’ll unlock the Sieger AR552 Tactical. Today also marks some changes which impact already released Arcade Contracts, including those arriving today....

Most dye recipes are awarded for completing specific side quests or activities, so even though you can technically unlock dying as soon as you reach Plainsong, it’ll take awhile before you’re redesigning Aloy’s armor. How to dye armor in Horizon Forbidden West Most major settlements – Plainsong, Scalding Spear, and the like – have a dyer. They’re marked on your map with a mortar and pestle icon and the word “Dyer,” so it’s pretty hard to miss....

According to a new report from VGC, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, a sequel to Guerrilla Games’ 2017 open-world action game, is currently in the works. This news isn’t especially surprising; Sony doesn’t like to abandon its big series, and Horizon Zero Dawn ended up selling over 10 million copies over its life. What is interesting, however, is that the game reportedly started out as a PS4 title, but was later moved to PS5....

Guerrilla Games has deployed patch 1.04 for the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn this morning. This week’s patch follows on from 1.03, released exactly a week ago. Alongside a host of yet more crash fixes, the new update actually tackles the game’s performance problems. It is a slight boost, according to the patch notes, but it’s the first attempt to address the game’s performance issues on PC. Guerrilla says CPU performance should be improved....

Devolver Digital, the independent publisher behind many influential indie games like Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, Minit, Absolver, and more recently Fall Guys - intends to go public. That’s according to a report from The Telegraph [paywall] (via Game World Observer), which says the company is expected to go public on the London Stock Exchange by the end of this year. Devolver has reportedly been working with bankers to try and hash out a deal, at a current valuation of $1....

When it launched back in 2014, TESO made many mistakes – something that sadly feels like tradition for large online games. Chief among them was the decision to go with a subscription-based model, trying to take a bite out of World of Warcraft’s real state. The Old Republic couldn’t achieve that even with all the power of the Star Wars IP and BioWare’s expertise. Unsurprisingly, things didn’t work out too well for ZeniMax Online’s MMORPG at first, either; less than a year after it launched, TESO dropped the mandatory subscription and worked towards actually becoming The Elder Scrolls (but) Online....

That is, until January 2022, when Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick off-handedly mentioned the series during an investor call announcing the company’s acquisition of Zynga, where he included Midnight Club in a list of Take-Two’s biggest franchises. As a fan, I was surprised to learn that Zelnick was even aware he still had the keys to Midnight Club in his back pocket. I certainly wasn’t alone either, as the name-dropping inspired a wave of fresh speculation about a revival for the street racing series, intensified by the discovery of a job listing at Take-Two owned studio Visual Concepts, seeking a producer to work on “an unannounced, open world driving game with a major license”....

To be honest, the original circumstances around Assassin’s Creed Liberation looked pretty bad. The game’s Steam page was marked with an announcement that sales of the game would cease in September – pretty standard, if rubbish – but also with text that suggested that even those who already owned the game would no longer be able to download and install it after a certain date, too. And that… well, that’s a much worse look....

To tide us over through this limbo period without new weapons to level and Warframes to farm, I sat down once again with Rebecca Ford, live operations and community director for Warframe, to talk me through some of the major new additions coming to this new player hub, alongside some of the more intriguing aspects of the Angels of the Zariman update. Avalanche Studios’ New York team, the one responsible for Just Cause 3, is on a bit of a hiring spree. The studio is looking for a wide range of disciplines to work on what it described as “the largest and greatest AAA project we’ve ever taken on.” As noted by @MauroNL3 on Twitter, the jobs ask for experience with open-world games, which isn’t particularly surprising given the studio’s history. There does appear to be a greater focus on animation this time around, with the gameplay animation programmer role specifically stating that the team intends to “push animation quality a lot further than we have done previously....

Coming May 20, Kirby heads to the stars to save his friends from a deadly new enemy, Dark Matter. The 2000 platformer features six worlds split into levels and has you swallowing enemies to copy their abilities which include fire, ice or electricity. You can also mix and match to create Power Combos. You will explore planets made of lava, water and sweets, and battle giant bosses as you seek out the scattered Crystal Shards....

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was revealed with the help of a colourful gameplay trailer, showing off a few of the game’s environments. There’s a bit of a strange post-apocalyptic theme in there, with many areas looking abandoned, decrepit, and overgrown. It’s not a grim post-apocalypse, however, more of a cutesy, light-hearted take on the popular genre. Kirby’s classic float ability returns, and he’s able to take on powers from defeated enemies, which look pretty fun in 3D....

Skywalker Saga has nearly a dozen Scavenger characters, though most of them are locked behind minigames and side missions. Rey and Wicket are the earliest one you can get without much effort.
