The company announced the move in a short press release today, without providing further color. This means that standalone versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD will no longer be available on digital storefronts after that date. There are a couple of exceptions: Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 will remain available via SEGA Ages on Nintendo Switch and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will still be playable via Sega Genesis on Nintendo Switch Online +....

Shadow of the Colossus and Sonic Forces will be available for free on PlayStation 4 for PS Plus users beginning March 3, Sony announced today. Both titles will be available until April 6 when we’ll get a new pair of free releases. Until then you still have some time to check out February’s PS Plus offerings: BioShock: The Collection, The Sims 4, and VR shooter Firewall Zero Hour. All of these games will be available to download until March 2....

This all comes from a popular post on the Lost Ark forums, where user Aionion created a thread after seeing multiple players claiming they had received unfair 3 day suspensions unfairly. According to their own claims, as well as the anecdotal information posted by those in the thread, these temporary bans seem to be impacting those who have invested hundreds of hours into Lost Ark. While the claims of banned players must always be taken with a grain of salt, the sheer number of players claiming the same sort of bans out of nowhere made relegating these complaints as nothing but post-ban salt a touch harder....

Set to release on Sonic’s birthday, June 23, the collection contains Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Each game has been digitally remastered for current generation platforms, and comes with a fresh twist with remastered visuals, added features, new content and modes and more. Key features include Classic Mode, Anniversary Mode with full screen display with an infinite number of lives, Missions, Medallions and Museum....

That’s according Deadline, which has heard Sony has Fleischer on top of its list to replace Travis Knight as the Uncharted movie director (thanks, GamesRadar). Along with the Zombieland sequel, Fleischer also directed the Venom film starring Tom Hardy. Earlier this month, it was revealed Knight was the sixth director to leave Sony’s Uncharted project. He was slated to direct after Shawn Levy, left the project in August 2019....

When Microsoft Flight Simulator released earlier this week, it quickly became clear that its separate launcher could cause some problems. Flight Simulator has its own launcher that runs after you start it, and it’s what handles updating, installing and the initial download. This approach, while irritating, is familiar to PC players. Many MMOs do this for various reasons, but it’s particularly frustrating when you play those games through Steam, because it means you’ll have to launch the game anytime you want to update to the latest version....

The company made the official announcement this morning, noting Mobius Final Fantasy service would end in Japan first on March 31. Service for the global version of the game will continue until the Warrior of Despair story concludes on June 30. Western players have until March 31 to purchase in-game currency, Magicite, which can be used until service ends. Square said it will continue to implement updates to in-game events, including the conclusion until it pulls service (thanks, Siliconera)....

For Star Wars Squadrons players this month, you can expect a new map with update 3.0 on November 25. The new map is Fostar Haven for multiplayer which you will remember from the single-player story. In this update, the map will be added to Fleet Battles and the Dogfight mode. It has been updated from its story mode to provide a new experience that should fit well with the other six maps....

Barone revealed on Twitter yesterday that two new games are in the pipeline, with one being set in the Stardew Valley universe, though it won’t be a farming game. The other nameless title is like to “tie into Stardew Valley in some way”, though is smaller in scope. Despite a wave of excitement from fans, Barone has asked players not to get too hyped up about any upcoming titles and wants to take the time to “make whatever game comes naturally to me without too much pressure or expectation....

The new regulation was noticed by SpacePirate Games which developed the game Age of Rust. This particular game makes use of blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) (thanks, Neowin). NFTs are non-interchangeable units of data that can be used to represent easily reproducible items. Such items include photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files. NFTs use blockchain technology to establish a verified proof of ownership and act similarly in fashion to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin....

While this obviously is useful across all platforms, this is best experienced with a combination of a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, and a 120hz monitor, where the input delay and overall game performance will be at its best. Capcom, with this, has dropped the mic, setting a bar for other developers in genre as well as establishing current gen consoles as the competitive standard for the game. But why is it such a big deal?...

Rocksteady revealed its upcoming game, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, during DC FanDome. Set for release in 2022, the game is a continuation of the studio’s Arkham Universe and an original take on the Suicide Squad. The action-adventure third-person shooter can be played solo or with up to four players in online co-op. If playing single-player, you can switch between characters at will as with multiplayer. Each squad member has their own unique moveset with traversal abilities to freely explore the open-world of Metropolis, along with a variety of weapons to customize and skills to master....

Game & Watch is a recreation of the classic 1980s handheld console system, the first Nintendo ever made, only this version comes with the classic Super Mario Bros. and The Lost Levels sequel, making it better than ever. The Good Life has found a publisher in Irregular Corporation, the publishers of PC Building Simulator and Good Company. A new trailer was released along with the announcement and offers a recent look at the game, which will be released in summer 2021. The White Owls-developed game was originally set to be funded on Fig, but the crowdfunding phase failed, so it was moved to Kickstarter where it was successful....

The CEO and chair of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, has said that video games will look “realistic” within ten years. Speaking at the UBS Global TMT Virtual Conference – as reported by GamesIndustry.biz – the exec said that technological advances would allow developers to be more ambitious. This includes making games that look identical to live-action. “I’m guessing [Take-Two’s] business in ten years looks very different than it does today in the same way that it looks very different today than it did ten years ago when there was no mobile business and no recurrent consumer spending,” Zelnick said....

As per a new update on the game’s official blog, Terraria has managed to shift an impressive 35 million+ units, dominating PC, console and mobile in the process. According to a breakdown of the sales, 17.2 million copies sold have come from PC, with 9.3 million are on mobile and another 8.5 million are on console. When that troubled Google Stadia port hits, you can likely expect that number to jump up once again, too....
