As part of the Annapurna Interactive Showcase livestream, the rumoured Outer Wilds expansion was officially announced. Dubbed Echoes of the Eye, it is going to be the game’s only add-on, and it arrives September 28 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Mobius Digital’s Alex Beachum introduced Echoes of the Eye by acknowledging that anyone who played the main game is, rightly, probably wondering why it’s getting an expansion in the first place, and how it’s going to fit within the game’s unique narrative about a dying world....

Microsoft also shared figures representing accomplishments made by the community. According to the figures shared, players have taken over 500 million flights and flown over 40 billion miles. Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, the half-expansion, half-sequel to Sega’s action MMO, has been in various forms of limited tests since its reveal last year. In one month, however, things will be a little more open. Sega has set a date for the New Genesis global closed beta test. This limited trial will be available May 14-16, only on PC. Phantasy Star Online 2 fans won’t be surprised to learn that the upcoming test can only be accessed through the Microsoft Store, and not Steam....

In an interview with British GQ, Xbox boss Phil Spencer outlined his thoughts on The Elder Scrolls 6 and its place within the wider Xbox ecosystem – seemingly confirming once again that Bethesda’s far-off Skyrim follow-up isn’t coming to PS5. “It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” Spencer said to GQ. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have....

Starting today, you can play PES 2020, MotoGP 20, and Don’t Starve Together: Console Edition for free on Xbox One. Sony said to expect reveals from third-party partners, plus a sneak peek at several games in development for PlayStation VR2. As far as third-party announcements are concerned, we haven’t heard any rumblings on what Sony plans to show, but Final Fantasy 16 news is expected by many. Announced in September 2020 for PlayStation 5, the game is in the final stages of development and Square previously promised more news on the game was coming sometime this spring....

Changes to the PlayStation Trophy system are coming today, and one of the main takeaways is Sony will increase the Trophy level range from the current 1-100 to 1-999. Following the update, you will find your Trophy level will automatically be remapped to a new level based on what you have currently earned. An example offered was that if you are at Trophy level 12, your new level will jump to somewhere in the low 200s....

Niantic has provided information on what to expect during the Johto event celebrating Pokemon Gold and Silver, during which you will be choosing between the two versions. Base Camps are a vastly important part of the experience in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. An image posted to twitter shows the control board that’ll fill part of the innards of an upcoming ‘module’ for the Polymega. It features four round controller ports, which is a dead giveaway that it’s either Nintendo 64 or GameCube - but text on the board reveals it to be ‘Element Module EM05 Ultra’, which lines up with the previously-announced name of the company’s planned N64 module. While the module was revealed late last year, the image shows that engineering is actually now underway on the module, showing us something a little more tangible than renders or mock-ups of a finished box....

Sony officially showed the innards of the PlayStation 5 today in the console’s first teardown video.
