Rayman Legends is currently completely free on PC, the first of many games Ubisoft plans to give away throughout the month. This is the Uplay version, of course, so you’ll need to create a Ubisoft account if you don’t have one. It’s only free until Saturday, April 4, so claim it while you can. You start the game in your apartment in first-person. To trigger the next scene you need to head to the bathroom and interact with the sink. When you awake from the nightmare, you can interact with the evidence wall to read some lore. When you’ve finished digging through the apartment, head back for the sink. The game then switches to third-person and you need to head to the phone, triggering a cutscene....

Capcom announced today that Resident Evil 3 has shipped 2 million copies worldwide on all platforms, nearly 50% of which were full digital sales. In essence, around 1 million of that is sold to consumers, whereas the rest is shipped to retailers. These figures were achieved just five days after the game’s launch. By comparison, Resident Evil 2 shipped 3 million copies in its first week on sale, and has now exceeded 6....

In a tweet via the developer’s social media channels, Capcom said this update explains that the new update is being pushed out in order to fix an issue where “certain” unspecified CPUs were “unable to launch the game”. The patch will also address “minor fine-tuning of certain graphical processes”. The patch is due to land in-game on August 24, and users are hoping that it’ll make the game that bit more playable....

Capcom kicked off today’s Resident Evil Showcase with a fresh trailer for Resident Evil Village. This video is made up almost entirely of new footage. There’s a particular focus on narrative here compared to previous trailers. We are introduced the townsfolk who call the eponymous village home. They appear to be living in fear of the same people and monsters chasing Ethan around. Everyone’s favourite tall vampire Lady Dimitrescu makes an appearance, and you can bet that those few extra seconds of her will drive some people crazy....

Respawn Entertainment now has a second location in Vancouver. The new studio will focus entirely on Apex Legends development. The developer revealed the move in a Games Industry interview. EA already has a base in Vancouver, of course, and that’s where Respawn’s new studio had actually existed for around eight months. Respawn initially started hiring from EA’s own employees, but is now looking outward to expand the team. Respawn is aiming for around 80 developers at the new location, and it’s being lead by Henry Lee, head of operations, and team director Steven Ferreira....

Today at Numskull Games’ February showcase, the publisher made a number of new announcements, and shared new details about previously revealed games. RICO London, the sequel to Ground Shatter’s 2019 co-op shooter, was among today’s reveals. As the name suggests, RICO London takes the action to the UK’s capital, and the story sees you going after gangs of London. RICO’s two-player, bullet-time action is still in tact. This is also still a game about quickly clearing rooms of bad guys, and the game’s arcade style of quick rounds and condensed combat appears to be intact....

Rocket League is going free to play this summer, and will no longer be made available to purchase on Steam and it will be leaving the service for the Epic Games Store. The studio was acquired by Epic Games back in May of last year. According to the official announcement, the core gameplay will remain the same, but the main menus will be refined. You can expect revamped and improved Tournaments and Challenges, and cross-platform progression....

According to a statement from Rockstar, the games did not release in a state that met its own standards of quality, or the standards that fans have come to expect. The studio said it has “ongoing plans” to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward with planned updates which will help the games “reach the level of quality that they deserve to be.” A new title update is on the way in the coming days for all versions of the trilogy, and it will address a number of issues....

Rust’s lead developer, Double Eleven, announced that the popular PC game would be making the jump to consoles way back at X019, but we’ve heard precious little about the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game since then. The initial release date suggested at the Xbox show pegged the game as releasing sometime in 2020, but as per an announcement from the studio last month that has slipped back somewhat....

A report published by GamesIndustry.biz earlier this week outlined a series of grievous misdemeanors enacted by senior staff at the studio, leading to a “toxic work environment”. Creative director Simon Darveau and his romantic partner (at the time of the studio’s founding) CEO Amelie Lamarche were reportedly mostly to blame for the toxicity in the Montreal-based studio, known for its work on both Darwin Project and Season. Now, after the report has been published, Scavengers Studio announced that Darveau has been “indefinitely suspended from all responsibilities within the company and from the Board of Directors....
