Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is coming to Google Stadia. The fighting game will be free for Stadia Pro subscribers starting June 1. The game launches with cross-play, which means Stadia players will be able to join friends on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch. This makes Battle for the Grid the first, and currently only fighting game that supports cross-play on all five platforms. In February, the game added cross-play to the PS4 version, allowing Sony’s platform to join existing players on PC, Xbox One and Switch, who had been enjoying cross-play multiplayer since launch....

PS4 beta update 8.50 removes PlayStation Communities and features some quality of life improvements (thanks, MP1st). Other features include the ability to turn on or off notifications for each group you are in, and when on the game sessions screen, you can now use the Request to Join button. This will send a notification to the session leader who can decide whether you can join the game or not. If you have hidden a game you are playing, other players will no longer see you play it....

This tidbit came alongside a slew of information regarding the game following a Q&A section for the Defiance update. In this preview event, aspects of Mad Maggie’s character, the team’s journey from the initial launch of Apex Legends to this latest season three years later, and the revelation of next gen versions being in the works were all discussed. On the topic of Mad Maggie, it was revealed that her abilities were originally planned for a polish Legend called Hasaria, a SWAT-style legend that didn’t quite make the cut for the current game....

That’s according to an incredibly-named YouTuber called John Glasscock, who uploaded a video showing that the black plastic plate on the front of the controller can be taken off pretty easily. Given how little effort this requires – and that you don’t need any tools to do it – leads Glasscock to speculate that it can be replaced with custom faceplates. Sony hasn’t officially announced anything about being able to tweak your DualSense to how you like it yet....

By now you’ve probably seen the PS5’s full hardware specs, and how they compare to those of the Xbox Series X. The disparity in GPU power between them could lead to different priorities when it comes to ray tracing. In Mark Cerny’s PS5 tech deep dive, the lead system architect didn’t talk a lot about ray tracing. He confirmed that the PS5 GPU can deliver hardware-accelerated ray tracing, but not through a dedicated block like we see today in Nvidia’s RTX line-up....

It’s no secret that PS5 stock has been hard to come across, no matter where you are in the world. The company has already outlined that it wants to build stock at a faster pace than it did with the PS4, but shortages are making components hard to come by, and the company simply cannot keep up with consumer demand. As per a new report from Bloomberg, the company isn’t enthusiastic about its chances of correcting the stock shortage issue anytime soon, either....

The incoming volcano-themed map is set to arrive in-game later in October, and developer PUBG Corp describes the new location as the game’s “first dynamic map”. Though it’s currently unclear just how different this map will be every time you play, hints from the developer suggest the map is ever-changing – a pretty decent idea for a battle royale title. As per PUBG Corp, the map is a “dynamic landscape [that] will keep you guessing each drop”....

“The ‘say anything’ party game is going international,” the description reads. “All the hilarious content from Quiplash 2, now in French, Italian, German, and Spanish, with 100 new prompts in each language.” The description also clarifies that “you can still play in boring old English,” if you want. For those unfamiliar with Quiplash, or Jackbox Games in general, Quiplash is an online game that you can play using a free app on your phone - provided one of your friends has already purchased it (if you want to cut costs, you can arrange an eight-person split)....

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of the few true PlayStation 5 exclusives. Following the release of Returnal in April, PS5 fans have one more big game to look forward to playing on their new consoles. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the latest entry in the classic series. The game’s biggest mechanic relies on the PS5’s ultra-fast internal SSD. Rift Apart can transform players into various parallel dimensions instantly, completely sending them to a different environment....

The Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart video features a look at various weapons, including classics like Buzz Blades, and new destructive tools such as the Blackhole Storm and Negatron Collider. Weapons will also play a part in how the DualSense reacts. When you pull the adaptive triggers all or halfway for specific weapons, you will feel the blasts through the controller’s haptic feedback. You will also hear the clicks and ticks of your weapons via the built-in speakers....

We’re all familiar with the visuals: the fingers curled near a holster, ready to draw and shoot. Two cowpokes facing off as a tumbleweed dances between them. The town bell that rings to signify that it’s time to die. The first Red Dead Redemption had these, but it’s an experience that’s missing from Red Dead Redemption 2. Now players in Red Dead Online are making their own rules for Western duels....

Last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake was bloody excellent. It honestly set the bar for what a re-imagining and remake of a classic, beloved video game could be. RE2 Remake is the bar that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have to clear when it releases in a few weeks - if, that is, that bar isn’t raised a little more by Resident Evil 3. The good news is that brilliance is still present in this title....

The news comes from a pair of Capcom reports which, when considered alongside one another, account for at least 100 million total global sales for the Resident Evil series. The first report actually comes from the end of March, and includes sales figures for a range of Capcom’s most iconic IPs. Across 49 titles, the Monster Hunter series sold 63 million units. Meanwhile, Street Fighter has seen 44 million copies sold throughout its 93-game run....

According to figures posted by SteamDB, during the first 24 hours of Resident Evil Village landing on Steam, the game hit 101,726 concurrent players. This is the best launch day for a Resident Evil game on the service, compared to recent releases in the series. The previous record-holder for launch day was Resident Evil Remake with 74,277 concurrent users, followed by Resident Evil 3 Remake with 60,293. Resident Evil 7 saw 20,449 folks playing the game on launch day and Resident Evil 6 had 11,879 concurrent users at launch....

Though it might be the towering vampire lady, Lady Dimitrescu, making headlines about Resident Evil Village, the developer behind the game knows there’s much more to the game than the now-iconic villainous countess. Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine (via Wccftech), the Capcom producer outlined what the development studio has done to ensure the next entry in the genre-defining series is doing to make sure it’s as iconic and memorable as other games in the franchise....

Part of today’s update, the Suspend Cycle will allow you to pause your cycle to be continued later. This will let you exit the game and turn off your console without losing progress. This functionality is not your traditional “Save Game” mode though, because the game will only create a single use suspend point. Once you begin playing again, the suspend point is deleted and cannot be used again. Your game will continue directly where you left off....

The trial kicks off Thursday, October 21 and will be available until Wednesday, October 27 - one day ahead of the game’s launch the following day. Though this is a much wider window for you to check out the game, you’ll only be able to play for four hours. All your progress, of course, will carry over to the full game should you choose to buy it. You’ll have access to all of Riders Republic’s career modes....

Jagex has signed a deal with Flying Wild Hog to launch a new multi-format, living game set for 2021. The game will launch on Jagex’s new publishing platform, and there are plans for both open and closed beta phases ahead of release. This will be the first title to be signed to Jagex’s third-party publishing division Jagex Partners. Being built using Unreal Engine 4, the game promises to deliver a “rich, deep, connected, and customizable multiplayer action-RPG gaming experience,” full of adventure set in a sci-fi universe....
