Red Dead Online has always had problems with cheaters. These vary from the more practical aimbots and the like, to the much more insidious that grief other players by spawning random animals on top of them, blowing them up and creating other aggravating/bizarre situations. In the days since Rockstar turned off servers for two hours out of respect to George Floyd’s memorial, hackers decided to respond in kind by using the in-game public message system - intended for use by Rockstar for server-wide alerts - to spam blatantly racist comments....

Co-op play, something many FromSoftware game players relied on to get through the studio’s challenging games, did not return in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Redditor Skramblez turned Hogwarts – the infamous school from the Harry Potter series of books and films – into a skate park via Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastered’s custom level creation. After skipping E3 before it was officially cancelled, as well pulling out of other events at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, such as GDC, Sony has now confirmed it’s also not attending this year’s Brazil Game Show. Launched on Kickstarter in 2017, and released on PC and current-gen earlier this year, the game is set to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021. According to Epic, this had ended the ability to offer Fortnite: Save the World updates to the game on Mac. According to the NPD, total videogame industry spending declined 19% year-over-year (yoy) to $3.7 billion. May 2022 had the lowest monthly spending total since February 2020’s reported $3.5 billion. Year-to-date, consumers have spent $21.9 billion across the board, a decline of 10% yoy. Subscription content was the only category for the month that showed yoy growth. News of a forthcoming Dying Light 2 announcement was shared in a statement regarding the departure of narrative designer Paweł Selinger, who announced this week he was departing the company after 22 years (thanks, RPS). “Paweł Selinger, who has been the Narration Designer for the last two years, decided at the end of 2020 to end his cooperation with Techland and to pursue his further career elsewhere,” reads the statement....

The physical version of this year’s edition of the Tokyo Game Show was cancelled in May, just like most events this year. At the time, organisers said they’re working on an online version. They have now returned to announce that Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online will take place September 23-27 entirely digitally. The five-day event is already accepting exhibitor applications. This year’s show will feature the usual run of business-to-business venues, as well as networking events, all of which will be done online....

This is according to players of The Ascent on PC that noticed the Game Pass version does not support Nvidia’s DLSS and that ray tracing doesn’t work.
