We’ve done this song and dance before. Though Outriders is without question one of those, it also hides many systems and mechanics that it doesn’t always do a good job of explaining. To help you navigate People Can Fly’s deceptively deep game, we thought we’d highlight some of the more nuanced features in Outriders, and explain how certain things work. The tips below are general, and will cover a wide range of topics, including crafting, combat, and even UI and HUD tips....

The survival-action multiplayer shooter is set in small-town America within the Division universe, and is slated for this year or 2023 on PC, consoles, and cloud. Ubisoft said it is gearing up for a closed alpha, but a date wasn’t provided. You can sign up for future closed tests on the official website. This standalone free-to-play The Division game introduces new playable characters in a rural setting called Silver Creek....

Or maybe you’d go more specific – perhaps label an indie that’s made it big as ‘mid-size’ instead; No Man’s Sky, Fall Guys, Among Us. You don’t think any of the RPG juggernauts from Bethesda (Fallout, Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online, et al) would be mid-size, right? They’re too big, too well-known, released on too many formats. The last we heard, Skyrim alone had sold 30 million copies – and that was in 2016....

Indie Megabooth founder Kelly Wallick has announced that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the showcase will be winding down. The Indie Megabooth, of course, relies on in-person events like PAX and EGX, and those have so far been cancelled. The Last of Us is one of my favourite games for many reasons. The main one being that Joel Miller is the most relatable, heroic video game character ever conceived. His gruff face, his beard, his flannel shirt - he’s the perfect protagonist. He tortures people, but that’s only because he’s a tortured soul himself. He doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve (mostly because that’s where his watch, a present from his dead daughter, goes), but he has a heart of gold pounding beneath that plaid....

It seems that the next console generation won’t be an immediate, concrete shift as we’ve had in the past. Already Microsoft has suggested that the Xbox Series X won’t get any exclusive games for a year or so - something that makes sense given the company’s dedication to building more of an ecosystem that crosses traditional hardware generations. But this, and a recent scandal in other areas of technology has me wondering: with the power of Project XCloud’s streaming and Game Pass, won’t Xbox One owners be able to continue to play even Xbox Series X exclusive titles via streaming, eventually?...

Named The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link’s never-ending adventure is set to continue on 12 May 2023 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Given the brief teaser trailer shown during today’s Nintendo Direct, as well as what we already know, it’s clear to see that Tears of the Kingdom will oversee Link taking to the skies. Of course, he’s still got unfinished business to tend to across Hyrule, but this latest entry in the Zelda series will see Link soaring up high too....

According to developer Hinterland, The Long Dark has now surpassed 5 million units, with another 3.5 million active players coming to the game through Xbox Game Pass and the Epic Game Store where it was a free give-away at Christmas. This has brought the total to over 8.5 million players to date. The team is now hard at work on Episode Four and is at the stage of development where it has been able to complete a full run-through of the episode from start to finish....

One of the neat mechanics in Bloober Team’s upcoming horror adventure The Medium is how it takes place in two versions of the same world at the same moment. The developer talked before about how the power of Xbox Series X/S is what enables the game to essentially render two versions of the world in real time, but not much has been revealed about how the mechanic itself works in game and what each of the realms offers that the other does not....

The company is also releasing a physical copy of this version of the game to retail next week. According to the studio’s global community director Marcin Momot, the next-gen patch for PC is “at the final stages,” and it “shouldn’t be long until it comes out.” “We’ll share more info the moment we can,” said Momot. “In the meantime, we really appreciate your patience.” As far as the physical version of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is concerned, it will be made available at retail on January 26....

Kim Bodina will be joining the cast of Season Two as Vesemir. News of the casting was announced today for The Witcher Netflix series. Rumor previously had Mark Hamill pegged as a possibility, well, the rumor was the show had offered the part to him. Whether he turned it down or if it was even offered in the first place isn’t known, but it would have been rather cool. Bodina is a Danish actor, writer, and director known for playing police detective Martin Rohde in the Scandinavian series The Bridge....

The PS5 pre-order process has so far been a mess. Unlike what Microsoft is doing with Xbox Series X and Series S, Sony didn’t set time/dates for when PS5 pre-orders would be going live. This resulted in a free-for-all that saw retailers opening up pre-orders shortly after the conclusion of the PS5 Showcase event. There didn’t seem to be a plan in place, so it looked like each retailer was simply reacting to their competitor’s moves, making for a terrible experience for customers....

The Nintendo Direct will be going live on June 28 at 6AM PDT / 9AM EST / 2PM GMT / 3PM CEST. You can watch it live on Nintendo’s official Youtube channel. We’ve yet to have any concrete information on what to expect from this Nintendo Direct aside from what we’ve been given - the focus being on non-Nintendo games coming to the Nintendo Switch. This does mean that those waiting for Bayonetta 3 news will have to wait a little bit longer sadly - same goes for Breath of the Wild 2 news....

PlayStation Plus is the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5’s online service subscription. It’s Sony’s equivalent of Nintendo Switch Online or Xbox Game Pass, though the three of them are fundamentally different. Not only does the service enable access to online multiplayer, it also offers subscribers a selection of free downloadable games every month. For example, November’s PlayStation Plus lineup includes Knockout City, First Class Trouble, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning until Monday, December 6....

On Friday, the Initiative’s official Twitter account announced a new partnership with Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the Tomb Raider reboot, and more recently Marvel’s Avengers. The studio didn’t say what that actually means, only that both teams will share development duties on the new Perfect Dark. “The teams couldn’t pass up a chance to work together. We’re still early in development, but incredibly excited to use this unique opportunity to deliver on the vision for Perfect Dark!...

Aside from the Halo Infinite campaign, which Alex is super excited for having spent time with a near-final build, Solar Ash looks like a top notch indie effort, Chorus has some legit great looking space vibes, and The Gunk is sneaking out just before Christmas and might also be rather special - we’ll wait and see....

Despite reports last year that Toys for Bob had shifted gears to assist on the development of Call of Duty: Warzone, a new claim is suggesting that the developer is working on a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot game (thanks, GAMINGbible). The claim comes from industry insider Jez Corden, speaking on the Xbox Chaturdays podcast. And an announcement could be coming at one of the upcoming showcases. Rand al Thor 19, discussing potential games that could show up, said “I think Toys for Bob will show up with a new Crash game....

The trailer clearly shows off what is supposed to be a style meant to mimic old black-and-white samurai cinema like that of famed filmmaker Akira Kurosawa but done in a 2.5-dimensional perspective. The action revolves around swordplay, but there’s also other weapons featured, such as spears, bows, guns, and cannons. Devolver’s description talks about how “patience and timing” are key to success in Yomi, using your enemies’ blows against them....
