Sony has today announced that it’s closing down digital console stores on PS3, PS Vita and all remaining purchase functionality for the PSP. The PS3 store shuts down on July 2 alongside the PSP. The PS Vita store will be retired a little later, on August 27. All three dates were first revealed last week in a report from The Gamer. Sony later shut down all remaining access to those stores on the web....

The existence of the invincibility toggle was first revealed in a tweet from Double Fine, in which the studio quote replied to an Xbox tweet enthusing that “beating the game on the lowest difficulty is still beating the game”. “If you beat Psychonauts 2 with the invincibility toggle on you still beat P2” reads the Double Fine reply. More and more live service games are going free-to-play, with PUBG having done so in January of this year, and Fall Guys having done the same in June. A big part of that is likely to bring in more players, especially because all of the big, successful live service titles like Apex Legends and Destiny 2 are free-to-play. And according to developer Krafton’s preliminary earnings report for the first half of 2022, PUBG going free to play has certainly helped....

According to The Verge, this will likely involve Microsoft’s xCloud appearing on Samsung offerings. Described by Samsung as “just the beginning” of its gaming partnership with Xbox," the company announced it was “working closely” with Microsoft to bring a “premium cloud-based game streaming experience” to Samsung devices. AI: The Somnium Files, by all accounts, is a peculiar story with a big heart and some really interesting ideas fuelling it – a great addition to Game Pass for anyone eager to give it a shot without dropping the cash. Scars Above was one of few games revealed today under Koch Media’s new Prime Matter publishing label. Scars Above is a sci-fi action game from Mad Head, the Serbian team behind many smaller adventure games, and ARPG Pagan. This is the studio’s first foray into the third-person action genre, but it’s only ready to reveal a few small details right now. The game follows Kate Ward, a scientist astronaut who’s stranded on an especially hostile alien planet....
In this instance, the world of Scorn could very well be alive. For my own peace of mind, I keep pretending that it isn’t. Yet, as you pace each tunnel and explore this strange, extra-terrestrial environment you’ve found yourself in, it feels like the walls could suffocate and eat you up at any moment. This feeling is more prevalent in Act 3 of Scorn than the chapters before it, so be prepared for quite the ride....

It’s nice to see the creator going back to his roots; Toyama has been out of the horror world for a while (his two most recent big launches were the Gravity Series titles that launched on PS4 and PS Vita). We’ve previously heard that the Japanese studio is targeting a release date of sometime in 2023 for this new project. “We are developing with PC as the lead platform, but we hope to release the game on as many console platforms as possible,” Toyama has noted previously....
