Friend codes - a 12-digit numeric code used to connect to other players - were originally introduced in 2006 for the Wii, and have since continued to be used on 3DS and Nintendo Switch systems. But they’re clunky, and tough to remember. Why not just use usernames? Over the weekend, leaked documents - apparently first posted to 4chan and reportedly linked to a server hack at a contracted company - appear to offer an answer to this question....

Called the Living Ship update, the latest content update for No Man’s Sky also includes “mysterious space encounters,” and additional NPCs. Living Ships are a new class of sentient starship and there are dozens of procedurally-generated variations. Each has its own set of unique organic technologies, also procedurally generated. The new mission series, Starbirth, will “take players through the ancient Korvax experiments,” which led to the creation of the starships....

Speaking in a WIRED Autocomplete Interview, Norman Reedus discussed how he came about starring in Death Stranding, and whether he will work with Hideo Kojima again in the future. “Guillermo del Toro originally called me and said ‘A guy named Hideo Kojima is going to call you and just say yes.’ I’m like, who is he? Here your answers affect your Intimacy level with different personalities, unlocking new stories in Devilgram and more content throughout the game as you raise your affinity with each character. Old Man is a new campaign available now to owners of Arma 3: Apex. Like the game’s previous scenarios, Old Man is a self-contained story that takes place in the game’s reality-based, fictional world. Being tied to Apex means the open-world action will unfold in Tanoa, the expansion’s tropical region. Old Man tells the story of a former Legionnaire who’s spurred back into action after Tanoa is hit with a new strain of malaria....

While only playable on the PC right now, news of future mobile and console versions are apparently on the way. So if you like the look of the trailer below, but the sight of a keyboard deeply frightens you, hopefully the wait shouldn’t be that bad. The gameplay is all about two teams of three smashing eachother off the arena in order to clear the path for a shot on goal....

The original Metro 2033 will also leave the service on March 15, so you only have a few days to play it. The game is free to play this weekend to celebrate the franchise’s 10th Anniversary. Outriders is a sci-fi RPG shooter from the developers of Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment. Announced by Square Enix at E3 2019, the publisher announced the release window and platforms today. A reveal stream will be held on Thursday, February 13 at 12pm PST, 3pm EST, 8pm UK. In the meantime, check out the gameplay reveal trailer below. Outriders will also release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

With all the overwhelming swarm of bugs - both game-breaking and hilarious - the hashtag #Cyberbug2077 has been trending on Twitter, which players are using to share their glitches and grievances with Cyberpunk 2077. This is mostly a mix of known bugs and glitches previously reported in the CD Projekt Red’s open-world sci-fi RPG - which include textures not loading, models and objects clipping through the environments, and falling through the level....

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony’s director of product development, Pete Smith, announced that the action racing game has been pushed back from its initial launch date of November 12, 2020, and will now launch in February 2021 instead. “Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world,” Smith wrote on the blog. “We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?...

We’d heard that a series based on the (in)famous PlayStation game franchise has been in the works for some time, with the first reports about the show making waves back in 2019. As per a new report from Variety, Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions are pitching the series as an action-comedy, and have brought Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (the writers behind the Deadpool movies and Zombieland) in to work on the script and executive produce....

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl were announced today, and are coming to Switch. The game takes place in the Sinnoh region, will feature recreated versions of the Diamond and Pearl story. ILCA Inc. who made Pokemon Home and worked on Nier Automata, Code Vein, Dragon Quest 11, and Crimson Shroud among others developed the games. The original games have been faithfully reproduced for Switch, and the sense of the scale of the towns and routes has been carefully preserved....

Now, The Pokemon Company has revealed that another patch is planned for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Both Pokemon Sword and Shield have Pokemon exclusive to each version, but during the Wild Arena event, you have a chance to catch exclusives such as Galarian Ponyta in Max Raid battles. Galarian Ponyta is exclusive to Pokemon Shield, but Sword owners have the opportunity to catch the equine Pokemon. Sword exclusive Galarian Farfetch’d is also able to be caught in Shield.
