According to the notes posted on Steam, there was an issue where certain achievements were not unlocked for players. This has been fixed. The update also includes more descriptive error messaging for some users experiencing crash issues upon launching the game. This is caused by CPUs that do not meet the minimum requirements, or where extensions necessary to run the game have been disabled by the user or by third party software....

As everyone suspected it would, Blizzard announced Diablo 2: Resurrected, which is a full HD remaster of the original and in 3D form. This is the definitive remastering of Diablo 2 and its Lord of Destruction expansion. You can expect dynamic lighting, revamped animations and spell effects in up to 4K resolution, and all 27 minutes of the game’s classic cinematics have been remade shot-for-shot. Yesterday, the developer disabled the Proximity Sensor throwable, believing it has something to do with the widespread rubber banding problem players have been experiencing since early access began. DICE later performed some testing, and found that removing the sensor helped with server performance, so it decided to keep it disabled as it performs more tests. The Proximity Sensor remains disabled, but DICE did manage to deploy a server-side fix that it said further improved server performance....

Bethesda found itself in a bit of a controversy over the last few days with Doom Eternal. As part of the game’s recent major update, developer id Software added Denuvo Anti-Cheat to the PC version. Denuvo Anti-Cheat is separate from its anti-piracy tech, and the new service was specifically implemented to thwart cheating in Eternal’s multiplayer mode Battlemode, and lay the groundwork for the launch of invasions in campaign. Unfortunately, Denuvo Anti-Cheat is one of those programs that demands Kernel mode root access, giving it free reign to monitor and modify anything on your PC, and potentially block certain apps....

90s-themed first-person shooter Dread Templar is set to launch on Steam Early Access later this year. The title is a throwback to a simpler time, a retro shooter inspired by iconics of the FPS genre like Doom, Quake and Hexen. Developer T19 and publisher 1C are bringing the game to Early Access in fall 2021, with a release on other platforms coming next year when it reaches 1.0. The game was previously known as Hell Hunt, before being given its current rebrand....
