The Druid class has arrived in Baldur’s Gate 3 in a really hefty update. With Patch 4: Nature’s Power, Druid characters will be able to use the Wild Shape ability to transform into a variety of different animals, each of which has its own unique abilities such as heavy attack options in combat, or strategic and defensive maneuvers. Like their D&D equivalents, Druids in the game can choose a Druid Circle subclasses that impact interactions in the game: Circle of the Land or Circle of the Moon....

A document published by the Board of Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Commission (spotted by Resetera user Rösti) notes that E3 2021’s physical event has been canceled. The document notes that the convention commission is working with the ESA (the E3 organizer) to work out broadcast solutions for an online-only E3 later this year. Earlier this month, we heard that E3 2021 was planning to be a digital-only show, though official comments from the ESA have yet to materialize....

Speaking in an investors call, company CEO Andre Wilson stated Skate 4 may contain “user-generated content, open-world, and interaction,” as that is the “secular trend” happening with the industry. “For many people, skateboarding isn’t just a sport: it unlocks their access to art, culture,” said Wilson (thanks, VGC). “If you follow a guy called Nyjah Huston on Instagram, who’s one of the world’s great skateboarders, you’ll discover that he’s a young guy who started out skateboarding, but now is a fashion and art icon who lives in a big house in Beverly Hills and drives around in a Rolls Royce....

Documents obtained by CBC News suggest that EA is intentionally driving players into the more loot box-orientated FUT mode so the company has a larger chance to glean more money from them in the premium title. One page of the “Run Up to FIFA 21” internal presentation from 2020 (distributed ahead of FIFA 21’s launch) that was acquired by the news outlet states that messaging for the yet-to-release game “will drive excitement and funnel players toward FUT from other modes,” and outlines that the return of professional soccer post-Covid-19 “is only going to help us and plans are ready to flex....

Geoff Keighley ended today’s Summer Game Fest kick off live showcase with a new trailer for Elden Ring. This is our first ever look at the game since its reveal almost exactly two years ago. The gameplay trailer above was probably a little more than people expected, because it also brought us a release date. Elden Ring is out January 21, and it’s coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S....

Tokyo Game Show 2021, at least, unveiled some new information for us. Producer Yasuhiro Kitao gave a few brief comments to Famitsu during the event, and allowed us to glean a few more details about the upcoming action-RPG in the process. As per the developer, the game is on track for its January 21, 2022 launch and is currently in the “final stages of development”, with the studio “moving forward quietly....

Both Elite Dangerous and The World Next Door are free to claim on the Epic Games Store until November 26. Frontier Developments’ multiplayer space-sim Elite Dangerous features an open-world adventure with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative, and the entirety of the Milky Way re-created. Starting with only a small starship and a few credits, every player’s story influences the connected gaming experience and evolving narrative. “Governments fall, battles are lost and won, and humanity’s frontier is reshaped,” all by players’ actions....

The initial tweet brought to attention the fact Fortnite’s mode now contains a new Role Bias feature which allows you to decide between being an Impostor or Agent when playing Public and Private matches. The most recent update, v18.20, also added an Impostors playlist with open Voice Chat. In today’s tweet, Epic said the mode was “inspired by the hit Among Us game,” and further tweeted it would like to work together with InnerSloth on something “fun” sometime....

In a new blog post, the company outlined a suite of new features it will be adding to the store soon which will draw it in-line with competitors that have been doing similar things for years. In the short term, Epic plans to introduce parties that support both voice and text chat, as well as an improved social search function, a Do Not Disturb mode, and customisable player cards, too....

Overnight, Sony officially gave the world a first look at the PS5 controller. The new controller not only flaunts an updated design, Sony is also moving on from the DualShock sub-brand and onto DualSense. The design of the controller has been a bit polarising, but the default colours in particular have been the biggest point of contention. Unlike other PlayStation controllers, the PS5’s pad sports two colours by default. The face is mostly white, with only the analogue sticks section in black....

If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, you’ll know that the games are usually Japanese-first; back in the day, they’d launch in their native region before the West, and local language development would always take place before localization. It’s a surprise, then, to hear Naoki Yoshida explain in a new Japanese interview (via Dualshockers) that the team will be going English-first for this game. “We’ve been prioritizing English voice recording. And we’re specifically doing it in British English,” the producer told the Japanese media....

Prime Matter has revealed another exciting collaboration with an indie team. Reikon Games, the developer of sci-fi shooter RPG, Ruiner, has returned with a new title. The new game does not yet have an official name, but it’s being referred to by the working title Final Form. This is another sci-fi project from Reikon, but unlike Ruiner, it’s a first-person co-op shooter. Players will be able to transfer their consciousness into mobile suits called Valkyries, which greatly enhance combat and movement abilities....

Per new reports from IGN that shine a light on some of Oneal’s internal communications, the outgoing studio head says she was offered an equal contract only after resigning from the role – not an ideal look when Activision Blizzard is currently mired in sexual harrassment and discrimination lawsuits. “Jen and I shared with management that we wanted to be paid the same to co-lead Blizzard together,” Ybarra said in Slack message visible to Blizzard employees, a screenshot of which was shared with IGN....
