According to Montreal newspaper La Presse, citing a report filed by the Montreal police and a French court, Yanni Ouahioune had been banned from Rainbow Six Siege over 80 times. During the past four years, he has harassed the studio and other Siege players. According to a criminal indictment in France, Ouahioune is responsible for having the studio swatted two more times in the next two months (thanks, Polygon). Speaking with the newspaper, Ouahioune denied having the studio swatted by police, but did admit he attempted to have another player’s home swatted....

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was announced this evening during the PS5 showcase, and it’s coming to you courtesy of Insomniac Games. The game features ray-traced reflections on Clank’s character model, and makes use of the PS5’s SSD to allow players to instantly jump through rifts across different dimensions. Capcom has revealed that the Resident Evil 3 we’re getting this year will be altered in a number of ways compared to the original. This itself isn’t surprising; Resident Evil 2 Remake, of course, introduced new stories of its own and fleshed out previously ignored characters. In the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine (issue 171), Capcom revealed a number of tidbits about the remake. Reddit user wolfiepl rounded up some standout details from the magazine’s cover story....

One of the more surprising reveals at today’s Resident Evil Showcase was our first look at Resident Evil 4 VR, a unique port of the classic game coming to the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset. This VR transformation was created by Armature, Capcom, and Oculus Studios. It’s not too surprising to learn, then, that Resident Evil 4 VR is a first-person game, which works much better in VR than the classic’s standard over-the-shoulder perspective....

As spotted by Gematsu, the silence in Resident Evil Re:Verse news has been broken by an 18 rating from PEGI for the game on Stadia. That’s pretty much it, but we haven’t really heard anything about the game since it got delayed to some time in 2022. According to Gematsu, the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game were rated a year ago on May 7, which is odd considering how much of a delay the game received....

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Village has sold yet another 500,000 units since we last got an update from the publisher, pushing the horror game’s total sales (digitally and physically) to over 5 million. And the publisher knows why the game has been so popular, too. “In addition to providing a sense of scale that outdoes its predecessor, as well as storytelling that rises above the genre of horror games, this title was lauded for featuring a higher degree of action and even more expansive, highly engaging gameplay,” the statement notes....

Resident Evil Village, aka Resident Evil 8, is a sequel to Resident Evil 7. I know that sounds like a slightly pointless thing to say as a review opener - but bear with me for a moment. What I’m getting at when I say that is that RE Village is very specifically a direct continuation of RE7: Biohazard. That was a sort of ‘soft reboot’ of the series - inside the vast established continuity, but distant enough that it served as a perfect jumping-on point for any potential newcomer to the series....

Over on Steam, a page for Sea of Thieves has appeared, noting that the game is “coming soon” to the service. Microsoft has said cross-play will allow Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam users to play the game together when it launches on Steam. Back in May last year, Microsoft said some of its Xbox Game Studios PC games would be coming to Steam, including Gears of War 5. The company said at the time the intent was to make its Xbox Game Studios PC games available to a wider range of players....

As reported by Eurogamer, in the company’s latest report, it noted that it is “striving to create a ‘Super Game,’ a major title that scales globally,” though didn’t expand upon what this actually means. Though Sega’s CEO Haruki Satomi did go into what the intentions and strategy for the “Super Game” is, which apparently aims at appealing to streamers. “One strategy for generating such hit titles is the creation of a ‘Super Game’ - a large-scale global title,” Satomi said....

For the first time ever, Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare players are reporting that the Season 5 update, due to officially release on Wednesday, is now available to pre-download. A number of players on PS4 saw a notification for patch 1.24 in their console’s download section, and shared screenshots on Reddit. The patch is a little over 36GB, but it won’t actually install until Wednesday. Once it’s done downloading, you’ll be able to continue playing the current version of the game....
