If you’re unfamiliar with Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge, you might not know that the game is, in fact, a total pisstake. You can use 3 woods to absolutely clobber balls into the stratosphere, despite being in putting range of the hole. Also, it’s about 7 milliseconds long, so you don’t really get much bang for your buck (fortunately, the real-life version is free, without compromising on the hilarity of its pure, unabridged silliness)....

According to the company, the first update will contain Juke Box, a Photo Mode, and a New Challenges Mode. Update two will feature Sonic’s Birthday, an Open Zone Challenge, and a new Koco. The third update will bring a new story and additional playable characters. We will let you know when SEGA provides more information on a release window for each content drop, but in the meantime, you can expect something festive....

Sony is seemingly much more positive about the demand for PS5 this year and beyond. According to a Bloomberg report, the platform holder is ramping up production with the goal of making 10 million units before the end of the year. This follows a report back in April that suggested Sony was expecting to sell fewer units of PS5 at launch compared to PS4. At the time, it was believed that Sony was aiming for 5 to 6 million units before the end of March 2021....

Currently only available in the UK (thanks, IGN), you can pick the bundle up at various retailers such as Argos, ShopTo, and Smyths. It appears all of the stores linked above are sold out of the bundle, but keep checking back. Once available again, it will run you £499.99. While the bundle doesn’t appear to be available in the US, it is only a matter of time, so keep an eye out for it....

Update: Japanese magazine Famitsu contacted Sony Japan after the discovery was made, and got confirmation that the date is in fact inaccurate. “It was due to a mistake in the recruitment site, not the content that was written by our company,” Sony’s Google-translated statement reads. Sony Pictures, the TV and film production arm of the Sony Corporation, is seemingly working on more than just Uncharted. Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra told CNBC (via MediaPost) that the studio is working on three movies and seven TV shows, all based on PlayStation’s video game content. According to Vinciquerra, Sony will be relying more on its own brands going forward. “We have no specific plan yet, but we have a program within the company called One Sony,” he explained....

Over on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony has put out a post essentially announcing the end of the very long PS5 shortage the company has been suffering from since the console launch in 2020. “To all our fans: thank you for your patience as we navigated unprecedented demand for the PS5 console amid global challenges,” reads the post. “If you’re looking to purchase a PS5 console, you should now have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally....

Speaking with GI.biz, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said the reason has to do with how the company currently releases its games. “We feel like we are in a good virtuous cycle with the studios where the investment delivers success, which enables yet more investment, which delivers yet more success,” said Ryan. “We like that cycle and we think our gamers like that cycle. “[In terms of] putting our own games into this service, or any of our services, upon their release… as you well know, this is not a road that we’ve gone down in the past....

The Epic Games Store is handing out Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition this week for free. This edition of the game contains the complete collection of customization content acquirable through in-game purchases from launch up to – and including – items inspired by The Rise of Skywalker. This means you will get more than two years’ worth of free content updates along with the complete collection of customization content....

In development at Aspyr and Lucasfilm Games, it is a new remake of the original revered RPG, and is in development as a PS5 console exclusive at launch and for PC. The game has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, and while the trailer didn’t show much of anything other than Darth Revan, it did feature voice-over work from Jennifer Hale, who played Bastila Shan in the original game....

DICE has announced Battle on Scarif will be the last content update for Star Wars Battlefront 2. Beyond the update, DICE said it will transition to support for the servers. It will still provide in-game challenges and recurring events for players. The team is just “moving away from delivering regular content updates.” Set to release tomorrow, the update will bring the Age of Rebellion to Supremacy and Instant Action with battles on Hoth, Tatooine, Yavin 4, Death Star II, and the world of Scarif....

The Steam Lunar New Year Sale for 2020 begins later today at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UK. Ars Technica has reported that Valve is developing a Nintendo Switch-inspired portable PC that will apparently be on the market by the end of 2021. The information in the report comes after it was discovered that Valve was possibly working on a handheld Steam console, codename Neptune, via files located in the Steam beta client. Now, as per the Ars Technica report, we’ve got a bit more information. The “SteamPal” – not its final name, by the way – is apparently an all-in-one, Linux-based PC that’ll ship with a touch screen and gamepad controls, providing a standalone gaming device....

When Square Enix unveiled Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin on Sunday, the publisher also announced a surprise PS5 demo, which went live just a few minutes after Square Enix’s E3 showcase. Unfortunately, since the moment it became available, no one could actually play it. While many managed to download the demo to their PS5 consoles, starting it would throw up an error about data being corrupted, asking players to re-download it....

There’s no denying it - PUBG is still an incredibly popular game. However, its playerbase has been slowly dropping this past couple of years, despite new content drops. In April 2018, the game averaged 1.1m concurrent player and enjoyed peaks of 2.5m. In the last 30 days, the average concurrent player count sits at around 250,000. While many game developers would give their left arm to have such a large audience, it’s a massive drop for a game that’s been supported so much....

If you’re hungry for a good, old-fashioned RPG, you’ve got something to look forward to later this month. The ‘final trailer’ for Bravely Default 2 (which is, confusingly, the third entry in the esteemed franchise) was released during last night’s 50-minute Nintendo Direct. The new trailer doesn’t give much away that we didn’t already know about the game, but instead serves to reiterate some key features: we get a look at the twee graphics, we see some more flashes of the battle system, and we clock a look at some of the characters’ jobs....

For those unacquainted with Temtem, it’s founded upon a similar premise to Pokemon, tasking players with catching a variety of unique monsters in order to make them fight each other with curious elemental powers. Some of them are shiny, some of them are big, some of them are flying pigs - you get the gist. It’s very good, and it’s only available on PC - at least it was, until it was announced that it’s coming to PS5....

Usually, city-building games are pretty draconian in their expectations of you: consume natural resources and expand your empire, or you fail. The Terraria set comes through Lego Ideas, a project ran by the Lego Group that allows fans to submit set designs and ideas to the company. Any set that garners 10,000 supporters in the Lego Ideas community gets sent up to a board of Lego designers and employees, who then assess the set’s suitability for a final release. If they decide to pick it up, it’ll later appear as a real-life set, in real-life shops, no longer just a fan creation, but made official....
