An open beta for the upcoming multiplayer combat title Naraka: Bladepoint is being rolled out shortly. In a news post on Steam, Chinese developer 24 Entertainment revealed that folks from around the world will be able to try out the 60-player sword combat battle royale romp between April 23 and 25. This comes in the wake of closed betas in both North America and Japan. The news was revealed yesterday alongside a brand new gameplay trailer (above) for the flashy title at the Future Game Show Spring Showcase....

Several examples of like minded players flocking to the new server have been captured and posted on the Final Fantasy 14 Reddit page, with characters such as Senator Armstrong, NanoMachinezson,and JetStreamz Samuel meeting up in major player hubs only a few minutes after the server went live. For those not in the know, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is somewhat of a meme powerhouse in the minds of gamers, and holds lofty status in the wider internet meme-osphere too!...

That’s according to Pokemon Japan, which posted the news regarding the Pokemon celebration and a new Mythical reveal for Pokemon Sword and Shield. The Pokemon in question will also make an appearance in the new film, Pokemon The Movie: Coco releasing on July 10. A teaser for the film is below. A special Max Raid battle will also be held in the game, and Pokemon Go players can also expect an in-game event....

The new six-minute trailer gives an overview of what fans can expect when they pick up the game and travel to the the Lental region, its setting. The video, which is titled a “Lental Region Snap Guide”, is likely to soon be made available in English - but since it’s been publicly released for several hours now with no sign, we figured we’d post the Japanese version. There was a similar but much shorter trailer released in English back in February....

This is according to the Taiwanese outlet Digital Times (paywall), which cites industry sources. According to the report, Sony will redesign PS5 with a “new semi-customized” 6nm CPU from AMD. At present, it seems the 5nm is too costly (thanks, Dr. Serkan Toto). Again, this would be a spec redesign, not a console redesign. In other words, the console would feature the same performance and same enclosure, it would just be less expensive for Sony to make....

The theme of this limited-time activity is GRIMES - the electronic pop artist who has collaborated with Psyonix for Neon Nights. As such, all the unlockables present are themed around the artist - making it a must-attend affair. These include “Player of Games” and “Shinigami Eyes” player anthems, GRIMES-themed toppers, and more. Alongside this event, the chaotic heatseeker ricochet mode will return. In this mode, every hit on the ball will soar towards the opposing team’s goal....

Today, that figure has risen to over 700,000. As you can imagine, this has made queue times exceedingly long for some. While there isn’t a definitively set meta for the brand-new game, some skills are more useful than others in all situations. There are four core skill trees that just about every character will use: Samurai, Shiftling, Ninja, and Onmyo Magic. The rest of the weapon-specific skill trees are more down to your personal preference. I often forget to use whatever skills I have equipped in the heat of battle, so lean more towards the permanent buffs on the weapon skill trees....

Naughty Dog has announced that it’s changing Outbreak Day, a yearly celebration of The Lat of Us and its community, to now simply be called The Last of Us Day. To no one’s surprise, this is because of the current coronavirus pandemic. Even though the event refers to something that happens in the game, Naughty Dog said it “didn’t feel right” to continue using that name. With that in mind, September 26 (Sunday) will remain as the yearly celebration, now called The Last of Us Day....

Mortal Shell dev Cold Symmetry took to Twitter in order to share some interesting stats from the beta. The game amassed a whopping 350,000 players prior to the beta’s closure, and racked up over 5 million views across Twitch and YouTube. Most importantly though, the beta included over 150,000 cat strokes, meaning that about 43% of players did the right thing and petted the cat (unless this figure also considers players who petted multiple cats, which means that the overall amount of cat-lovers might be lower, but the remaining cat-lovers are even better for having spent far more time than necessary with their feline pals)....

Since the moment Overwatch 2 was revealed at Blizzcon last year, Blizzard avoided talking about a possible release date. This lead us to believe the sequel may actually be early in development, with a long way to go still. This is not what PlayStation Brazil believes, however. The company’s official Twitter issued a tweet saying that Overwatch 2 is coming to PS4 in 2020. The tweet has since been deleted, but not before Voxel grabbed a screenshot....

Per Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Ryan was prompted to reach out to the company following a Wall Street Journal report that suggested the Activsion Blizzard CEO reportedly knew about allegations against the company for years and intentionally hid instances of sexual harrassment from the board. In the email, Ryan apparently linked the WSJ report, and noted that he (along with PlayStation leadership) were “disheartened and frankly stunned to read [that Activision] has not done enough to address a deep-seated culture of discrimination and harassment....
